The premiere of ''The Great Exodus. The Greek Way of the Russian Emigration''  movie took place in Athens. The film was created by order of the representative office of Rossotrudnichestvo in Greece within the framework of the Cross Year of the history of Russia and Greece. The screening was dedicated to the centenary of the Russian Exodus, according to the website of the Coordinating Council of Russian Compatriots in Greece.

In November 1920, more than 146,000 people sailed from the ports of Crimea to Constantinople. The Crimean evacuation was later named the Russian Exodus. About three million citizens of the Russian Empire, who were forced to leave their homeland after the October Revolution, ended up in exile 100 years ago. After finding themselves in a foreign country, the Russians tried to preserve their culture both in their hearts and in objects.

Greece became one of the countries that hosted the first refugees from the south of Russia in early 1920. Most of them arrived on the island of Lemnos, and for some it became the last refuge of their lives.

The warm and friendly atmosphere of the screening allowed the audience to share impressions, emotions, family stories and memories from childhood.
