1st Sergei Rachmaninov International Competition to be held in Moscow in 2022

The 1st International Music Competition named in the memory of renowned Russian composer Sergei Rachmaninoff will be held in Moscow next year, TASS reports.

The competition is meant for pianists, conductors and composers. The age restrictions are as follows: 16-32 years for pianists and 16-40 years for conductors.

The contestants will be evaluated by cultural figures from Russia and other countries. The prize fund of the competition is over $200,000, the winners will receive $30,000 each.

The second Rachmaninov competition will be held three years after the first, in 2025.

The organizing committee of the competition is headed by Deputy Prime Minister Tatyana Golikova; it includes Valery Gergiev, Denis Matsuev, Yuri Bashmet, Vladimir Fedoseev and other masters of the world conducting and performing arts. The organizers expect that the competition will contribute to the development of musical art in Russia and the popularization of the work of Sergei Rachmaninoff.
