The World Congress of School History Teachers kicked off on Monday, October 4, the Rodina magazine writes.

Participants from nearly 40 countries are taking part in it. Russian teachers represent about 60 regions of the country. The Congress brought together more than 300 school teachers from Europe, Africa, Asia, Australia, North and South America.

According to Academician Alexander Chubaryan, who is the scientific director of the Institute of General History of the Russian Academy of Sciences, the problem of teaching history is acute not only in Russia. Many countries are dissatisfied with the way children learn history in schools.

Sessions and discussions of the forum are broadcast live.

The Congress is being held at the initiative of the Russian Historical Society and the All-Russian Association of Teachers of History and Social Science. A number of international organizations are taking part in it, including associations of history teachers and academic centers.
