Russian tennis player Daniil Medvedev wins 1st US Open in career

Russian tennis player Daniil Medvedev won the US Open for the 1st time in his career. In the final, the 25-year-old Russian defeated the Serb Novak Djokovic, who ranks first in the world rankings. The tournament was held in New York, R-Sport reports.

Medvedev defeated Djokovic in three sets, each of which ended with a score of 6: 4, the match lasted two hours and 15 minutes. For the first time in his career, the Russian won the US Open Cup; it is also his first Grand Slam tournament. Previously, Medvedev reached the series finals twice, but lost in decisive matches.

After the final in New York, Djokovic praised the Russian's game and said that he deserved to win.
