Russian musicians win at international piano competition

Russian performers Miroslav Kultyshev and Viktor Maslov took 1st and 2nd places, respectively, at the 2nd International Classic Piano Competition, the results were announced in Dubai. Russian Artyom Kuznetsov was also awarded for performing works by Maltese composers, TASS reports.

The Classic Piano project is considered one of the largest in the music world. The competition is organized by the European Foundation for the Support of Culture. The decisive part of the creative competition started in mid-August and lasted almost three weeks.

70 pianists from more than 20 countries demonstrated their skills in four rounds of the contest, performing solo and with a symphony orchestra. In the finale, pianists from 14 countries performed works by composers of the 19th and 20th centuries. The jury was headed by Russian composer Alexander Tchaikovsky. He noted the highest level of the participants.

Miroslav Kultyshev and Viktor Maslov won $119,000 and $60,000, respectively. In addition, the winner will go on a tour of almost 20 countries and several continents. Miroslav Kultyshev will perform in Russia, USA, Great Britain, Germany, Turkey and other countries.
