The European Olympiad in computer science among juniors has been sucessful for Russian schoolchildren, RIA Novosti reports. They have won the title of champions four times. The Ministry of Education noted that the Russian team was the only one to receive more than one gold medal.

Renat Karimov from Tatarstan won the gold medal, Muscovite Ivan Piskarev became third. Russia was also represented by Moscow schoolchildren Daria Grekova and Alexey Vasiliev. They were selected for the tournament following the results of the All-Russian Olympiad in Informatics.

The tournament took place in Ploiesti (Romania). Nevertheless, the unfavorable epidemiological situation forced the Olympiad to be held online, as it was a year ago.

The competition included two stages. Participants were required to demonstrate their computer science by completing six algorithmic tasks.

This year, almost 110 people born in 2007 from 30 countries fought for the victory, a record number for the tournament.
