The construction of a unique source of synchrotron radiation of generation 4+ has been launched in the Novosibirsk science city of Koltsovo. According to Russian Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Chernyshenko, the Siberian Ring Photon Source will make it possible to conduct research with bright and intense X-ray beams in various fields of science, including chemistry, physics, geology and others, TASS reports.

The Deputy Prime Minister is sure that the day of the start of construction will go down in the history of Russian and world science. Construction should be completed at the end of 2023, and the first scientific studies are planned at the synchrotron in 2024.

The start of construction was timed to coincide with the Tekhnoprom International Forum, which opened on Wednesday, August 25, in Novosibirsk.
