The Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation has authorized a joint study of AstraZeneca and Sputnik Light, RIA Novosti reports.

The list of approvals notes that "a simple, blinded, randomized phase I / II study to determine the safety and immunogenicity of a combination of AZD1222 and rAd26-S drugs, administered in a heterologous prime-boost scheme'' is going to take place.

150 people are to participate in the study. It will last until the beginning of the next spring.

The Sputnik Light single-component vaccine was registered in Russia in May. Volunteers from Russia, the United Arab Emirates, and Ghana took part in its research. Sputnik Light is designed for young people from 18 to 30 years old.

Taking into account a variety of parameters, including age, gender and others, experts called the Sputnik Light comparable efficiency at a level exceeding 78%.
