The famous French singer Mireille Mathieu celebrates her anniversary, TASS reports. She turns 75 on Thursday, July 22.

The actress first appeared on the stage more than 50 years ago, she has sent more than 200 million copies of her albums. Mireille Mathieu enjoys immense popularity in Russia. The singer, in her turn, loves the Russian culture, viewers, and the language. She took part in assemblies held by the Russkiy Mir Foundation.

It is no coincidence that the Pushkin Institute endowed her with the title of Ambassador of the Russian language.

Mireille Mathieu noted that she considers the Russian language a symbol of the Russian soul. When songs are played in Russian, they cause a special excitement in the audience, even if the audience does not understand the lyrics. The singer is sure that this is the special power of the Russian language.
