Russian hockey players can no longer compete for the gold in the world championship, TASS reports. They lost to the Canadian team in the quarterfinal match of the tournament, which takes place in Riga. The score was 1: 2 in overtime. The only Russian goal was scored by Evgeny Timkin.

This game has already become the 19th for the Russian and Canadian teams, the Russian team has won eight times. The Russian team lost to the Canadians in the world championship match for the fourth time in a row. The Russian national team became the world champion five times, the Soviet Union team won the tournament 22 more times. The Canadians have 26 titles.
