Bolivian President Luis Arce was vaccinated against coronavirus with the Russian Sputnik V vaccine. The head of state hopes that his example will encourage the country's residents to join the vaccination campaign and protect themselves from the virus, TASS reports.

Luis Arce urged Bolivians to come to vaccination centers. The country was able to open vaccinations at the end of January thanks to the Russian drug Sputnik V. On the eve of the arrival of the vaccine in Bolivia, it was reported that the president would be one of the first to be vaccinated as a sign of confidence in the drug. However, later it was decided to follow the vaccination schedule according to Arce's age.

At the moment, the population of the country is being vaccinated with Sputnik V, as well as medicines produced by the British-Swedish AstraZeneca and the Chinese Sinopharm. The number of people receiving the 1st dose of the vaccine is reported to have exceeded one million people in Bolivia.
