The Russian Sputnik V coronavirus vaccine has begun to be produced in India, TASS reports. It is produced at the site of one of the leading pharmaceutical companies Panacea Biotec.

As stated in the Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF), the factory is located in the city of Buddy. The first batch of the drug will be sent to the Gamalei Center to determine its quality. Full-scale production will begin in the summer, the RDIF explained.

It is reported that Panacea Biotec's facilities meet all international standards and have been prequalified by the World Health Organization.

Ten days ago, a pilot project for vaccination against coronavirus infection using Sputnik V was launched in Hyderabad, India.

A single dose of the vaccine costs nearly $13 in India (+$5 tax). One of the largest biopharmaceutical companies in the country, Dr. Reddy's, promised that they will do everything to ensure wide coverage of the Sputnik V vaccine. Dr. Reddy's is partnering with RDIF to release Sputnik V for use in India and other countries.

The emergency use of the Russian Sputnik V coronavirus vaccine was approved in India in mid-April.

The number of COVID-19 cases has increased dramatically. More than 22 tons of humanitarian aid was delivered from Russia, including more than 70 ventilators, 150 monitors, equipment for the production of oxygen. In addition, India received 200,000 packages of drugs.

The Russian authorities have decided to support India "in the spirit of friendship and especially privileged strategic partnership." This measure is aimed at countering the spread of coronavirus infection.
