Moscow to host World Congress of History Teachers

The 1st World Congress of School History Teachers will take place in the Russian capital this year. It is expected that its participants will be about 700 teachers from almost all continents of the planet. Preparations for the organization of the teachers' congress began, Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin approved the organizing committee of the congress, TASS reports.

To participate in the first congress of this kind, not only teachers from all over the world will be invited, but also various international organizations, including representatives of the association of pedagogical historians and scientific centers. The way the congress will take place will depend on the situation with the spread of the coronavirus. The decision on the format of the event will be taken by the organizing committee.

Minister of Education Sergei Kravtsov and Scientific Director of the Institute of General History of the Russian Academy of Sciences (RAS) Alexander Chubaryan will become co-chairs of the organizing committee. The committee also includes Chairman of the State Duma Committee on Education and Science, Chairman of the Board of the Russkiy Mir Foundation Vyacheslav Nikonov, General Director of the Hermitage Mikhail Piotrovsky, representatives of ministries, heads of leading historical institutions in Russia.
