Year of Agnia Barto announced in Australia

An international literary competition for children and adults, timed to coincide with the 115th anniversary of the Soviet poet Agnia Barto, is planned to be held in Australia. The organizer will be the International Academy of Russian Literature in Australia. At the meeting of the organization, it was also decided to declare this year the Year of Agnia Barto, the Literaturnaya Gazeta newspaper reports.

The literary competition will open on March 1 and will last until September, and children and adolescents from 6 to 16 years old can take part in it. An adult nomination has also been introduced for authors of children's poems, fairy tales and other works.

The organizers plan to post the works of the participants online so that the readers can get acquainted with the works of the contestants. The purpose of the tournament will be to draw attention to the work of Agnia Barto, awaken interest in children and adults in learning the Russian language and reading Russian literature in Australia and other countries.
