Works by Tchaikovsky, Mussorgsky, Rimsky-Korsakov, Rachmaninov, Prokofiev, Glinka and other Russian classical composers were performed at an evening of Russian music at the Vienna Chamber Opera. Young singers from Russia and other countries took the stage, the Rossiyskaya Gazeta newspaper reports.

The Chamber Opera, one of the four opera houses in Vienna, recruits gifted young people every two seasons for training and performances. This year, six young performers have been selected from 572 applicants representing 56 countries. Half of them turned out to be Russian-speaking. An internship in Vienna was offered to Valentina Petraeva, a native of the Bashkir village, and Ivan Zinoviev from Krasnoyarsk. Both of them received a professional education in Moscow. Sofia Vinnik from Munich, who speaks Russian, was also on the list.

It is possible that this fact inspired the management of the Vienna theater about the theme of the first musical evening, which included works by outstanding Russian composers.
