21st Russian-Finnish Cultural Forum is held online

The Russian-Finnish Cultural Forum opened on Thursday, October 1. This year it is being held for the 21st time. According to the organizers, it was decided not to abandon the forum, but to transfer it online.

The current forum, which during its existence has become an important event in the cultural life of the two countries, was to be hosted by Lahti. The forum is held in turn in Russia and Finland. Next year, 2021, it will be held in Russia, and will return to Lahti in 2022.

The forum's program combines an opening ceremony, a music workshop and a session on the creative industries. It is also an effective and demanded platform for promoting joint Russian-Finnish projects. Among the forum participants are employees of cultural institutions, famous cultural figures, as well as leaders of the cultural sphere of both countries.

The forums consider projects related to the cultural life of modern society, including history, archeology, linguistics, tourism, genealogy, Finno-Ugric cooperation, youth subculture, social sphere, and many others.

The participants of the forum were congratulated by the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin. In his opinion, the event, taking place in the year of the centenary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries, will contribute to the development of humanitarian cooperation, the strengthening of friendly, good-neighborly relations between the two countries and peoples.

The head of state noted that the forum allowed representatives of government departments, creative teams, public and scientific organizations from many regions of Russia and Finland to maintain a direct, informal dialogue, exchange experience, and strengthen business and personal contacts.
