The members of the Russian-Serbian expedition completed research in Herzegovina, the purpose of which was to document the Russian cultural and historical heritage in the region. The expedition visited settlements and monasteries associated with the history of Russia in different centuries and those who came from it, according to the Rossiyskaya Gazeta newspaper.

The expedition was attended by scientists and teachers of the University in East Sarajevo under the leadership of the rector Milan Kulich, as well as a member of the Russian Geographical Society (RGS) Alexander Borisov.

The members of the expedition visited a number of monasteries that became the spiritual shrines of Herzegovina. Visiting the grave of the famous poet Jovan Ducic in the Hercegovachka monastery, travelers recalled his words about Russia's mission to save the Orthodox East Slavic peoples.

The Duzi Monastery, founded in the 16th century, was included in the route, since representatives of Russian noble families, including monarchs and family members, made a great contribution to its development. One of Duzha's abbots in the late 1920s was the White emigrant Nikolai Ruzhentsov.

In Herzegovina, they note that Russian emigrants brought culture and spirituality to the territory of the region. The participants also visited places associated with the tragic events of the Second World War.
