Compatriots in Canada dedicated online broadcasts to Brodsky

Russian compatriots in Canada celebrated the 80th anniversary of Joseph Brodsky with online creative programs. The Russian-speaking Et Cetera club from Toronto held an online broadcast dedicated to the poet’s anniversary. The actors of the Calgary Russian Theater read Brodsky’s favorite works during an online broadcast, the press service of organizations of Russian compatriots of Canada reported.

Members of the Et Cetera club read the poet’s works, performed songs on his poems and talked about the role of Joseph Brodsky’s work in their life. The broadcast lasted more than an hour; its recording was posted on the Et Cetera club’s YouTube channel.

The actors of the Russian Theater of Calgary held a broadcast, during which they talked about the most important events in the biography of Joseph Brodsky, read his famous and little-known works. Photos picturing Brodsky in different years of his life and places important to him were shown during the broadcast.

A real gift to compatriots and anyone interested in Joseph Brodsky’s work was made by journalist and collector Maxim Kravchinsky, who posted on his YouTube channel a recording of the poet’s meeting with admirers in April 1992 in New York.

May 24 this year marked the 80th anniversary of the outstanding Russian poet, Nobel Prize winner Joseph Brodsky. The anniversary was celebrated in the poet's native city - St. Petersburg, as well as in other cities of Russia and the world.
