Almost a third of the inhabitants of European countries, who took part in the study of the NAFI analytical center, plan to visit Russia in the coming years. Ninety percent of those who visited Russia earlier said they were satisfied with the trip. The online survey was held at the end of last year in 27 European countries, TASS reports.

Twenty-nine percent of survey participants said they had been to Russia as tourists. The same percentage of respondents are considering visiting the country in the next two years. Among them are both those who want to return to Russia, and those who have never visited the country before.

Most often, the desire to visit Russia was expressed by middle-aged people and young people from 18 to 34 years old, the latter accounted for 35% of the total number planning to visit the country. Most of all those who want to spend vacations in Russia live in the former republics of the Soviet Union, in which almost half of the respondents announced their intention to go to Russia in the next two years.

High interest in the sights of Russia remains in the countries of Eastern Europe, where 37% of respondents want to visit the country. In Western European countries, one in five respondents announced their desire to go to Russia.

The study participants said that most often they are kept from a trip to Russia by a long road, a language barrier and prices. Currently, inbound tourism brings the country about eleven and a half billion dollars.

The Federal Tourism Agency believes that foreign tourists can help the Russian economy quickly overcome the crisis after the coronavirus pandemic. The simplification of visa regime for tourists can become one of the ways to reach this goal.
