Russian literature lovers are invited to France for an evening dedicated to Sergei Yesenin. The literary event will be held on Tuesday, February 4, at the Paris representative office of Rossotrudnichestvo. The evening is organized by Maxim Gorky Literature Institute. This year marks the 125th anniversary of the famous poet.

The evening is included in the program of the Days of the Russian book and Russian-language literature. It will also become part of the large-scale Russian Seasons project.

A round-table discussion is planned where Russian and French writers, together with literary critics, will discuss Esenin's life and work. The opening of the exhibition is timed to the evening. Historical photographs, archival documents, and unique publications will be exhibited during the event. Yesenin's lines will be read in Russian and in French, as well as songs and romances.

Journalist Zakhar Prilepin will present his new novel dedicated to Yesenin. The book was recently published in the Life of wonderful people series.

Natalya Shubnikova-Guseva, the Head of the Center for the Study of Life and Creativity of Sergey Yesenin, will present the new Encyclopedia of Yesenin. She will also talk about Yesenin’s ties with France.

A report by Michel Niqueux, a doctor at the Caen-Normandy University and professor emeritus at the University of Lausanne, will be devoted to the first translations of Yesenin's poems into French.
