Indian astronauts will undertake an 11-month training in Russia; the program starts in January. This was stated by the Minister of Atomic Energy and Space of India, Jitendra Singh. Earlier, the Indian authorities announced that the country would organize space flight on its own until 2022, RIA Novosti reported.

After a full-fledged Russian flight preparation course, Indian astronauts will return to their homeland and will be train in a specially developed service module. Candidates for participation in a space flight will master control of the ship and work out team actions, after which a flight simulation will take place.

About a year and a half ago, Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced plans to launch an Indian spacecraft with a national crew, the flight is scheduled for the end of 2021.

Russia and India previously held a number of educational projects in the space sector. Six months ago, representatives of India took part in the work of the 15th International Summer Space School at Samara State University. The school studied space research.
