Compatriots living in different cities of Ireland organized New Year's parties for children. Father Frost, Snow Maiden and other characters of Russian fairy tales took part in it. Bright performances, popular songs and folk dances remind young viewers of national roots and teach to respect the traditions of their ancestors, the Russian Ireland website reports.

Father Frost started to congratulate children in Dublin at the beginning of December and reached Galway by the end of the year. At Clayton Hotel, children eagerly participated in fairy tales, games, dances and competitions organized by activists of the Russian-speaking community. Pinocchio, the fox Alice and the cat Basilio, Malvina, Arlekino and Karabas-Barabas entertained the kids. Father frost presented the young guests with sweet gifts from Russia.

The Russian community in Ireland regularly holds events aimed at preserving cultural traditions. In the middle of December last year, a stand on Russian history and culture was opened at the St. Mark's School in Dublin with the participation of the Russian Embassy and compatriots. The event was timed to the Day of World Cultures, which is held annually in the educational institution.
