A film is being shot in Crimea about the world-famous Russian artist Ivan Aivazovsky. Filming takes place in Feodosia, where the painter lived most of his life and where his museum is located. The feature is shot in the style of animated paintings. It is expected that the premiere will be held in 2020 in Australia, where 28 descendants of the artist live, SM-news reports.

A forty-minute film under the working title Aivazovsky: Genius and the Sea is shot by experts from the Feodosia Art Gallery, specialists from Rostov-on-Don are involved in the work. The genre of "animated paintings" involves the transformation of a static canvas into a moving one, the effect is achieved by a special method of shooting. The authors promise that seagulls will fly in the frame and the sea will sway.

It is reported that the premiere of the film will be held in Melbourne and Sydney. The creators of the feature have already received an invitation to participate in the Sydney Festival of Russian Cinema in 2020. Many descendants of Aivazovsky live in Australia; last summer four family members visited the ancestor’s estate. The first Russian cities to watch the film are likely to be Rostov-on-Don and Feodosia.
