Days of Russian cinema held in Bratislava

12.12.2019

The Days of Russian Cinema, which have already become traditional, ended in Bratislava.

The film festival was organized by the Russian film company Noah, which has organized film festivals in Slovakia, Russia and other countries for many years.

The film festival opened with the screening of  Arrhythmia by Boris Khlebnikov at the Lumiere movie theater.

The Lenin Factor by Vladimir Khotinenko, Balkan Frontier by Andrey Volgin, Light Up! by Kirill Pletnev, Decision: Liquidation by Alexander Aravin, To Paris! by Sergey Sarkisov and T-34 by Alexey Sidorov were also screened during the festival.

The Russian Center of the European Foundation for Slavic Writing and Culture provided informational support to the film festival and organized the screening of Balkan Frontier for teachers and students of Russian language courses.

The film touches on the collapse of Yugoslavia, the Serbian-Albanian struggle in the Kosovo region and the bombing of Belgrade in 1999.

The members of the film crew met the audience - the famous Yugoslav and Serbian film actor, director and stuntman Goiko Mitić, film director Andrey Volgin and others greeted the crowd. Many questions were asked from the audience about the real events underlying the film.

In addition, on December 8, as part of the Sunday Readings project, a lesson in Russian was held for children dedicated to the upcoming holidays - New Year and Christmas. Children of Russian and Ukrainian compatriots came to the Russian Center.

The lesson was held in a fun interactive way. Children got acquainted with fairy-tale characters from different countries from Father Frost and Ehee Gyule (Father Frost from Yakutia) to Santa Claus and Mikuláš.
