Geneva Film Festival grants award to Kantemir Balagov's feature

Historical drama film  Dylda (Beanpole) feature was called the best full-length feature at the Geneva International Film Festival, RIA Novosti reports. The jury said Beanpole is a “real piece of art about grief and recovery,” a powerful film uncovering such topics as survival and complicated relations. Apart of young director's excellent work, performers of to leaging roles Victoria Miroshnichenko and Vasilisa Perelugina were praised for reflecting complex emotions of their characters.

Let us remember, this is the the second feature of 27 years old director and Alexander Sokurov's student. The film tells the dramatic story of women struggling to survive in the aftermath of World War 2. As we reported before, Balagov’s Closeness won the Cannes' FIPRESCI award in 2017 and Un Certain Regard best director prize at Cannes this year.
