Russian prime minister Dmitry Medvedev signed a decree, simplifying official conditions of film shooting in Russia. The Ministry of Economic Development of Russia is convinced that the introduced compensation and benefits will make Russia more in demand among foreign filmmakers, as well as increase the tourist attractiveness of the country, TASS reports.

According to the government decree, foreign film companies that have chosen Russia to produce a film will be able to reimburse from 30% to 40% of the money spent on shooting in the country. To obtain the maximum amount prescribed by law, a number of conditions are indicated. According to one of them, at least 80% of Russian residents should work in a film crew.

The forum of the International Association of Film Commissions, which was held in St. Petersburg for the first time in September, discussed the issue of reducing the expenses of foreign filmmakers when filming in Russia. Over twenty film companies expressed their willingness to consider the possibility of filming films in Russia if the compensation program was adopted.

The Ministry of Economic Development of Russia believes that the program will attract the world's leading film companies to the country, increase the recognition and tourist attractiveness of Russia, and lead to an increase in the number of joint projects of Russian and foreign film producers.
