Italy plans to initiate the merger of the four existing forums, in which civil society dialogues between Russia and Italy, France, Germany and Austria are ongoing. Within the framework of the Forum of forums it is planned to create a separate platform for discussing cooperation between European countries and Russia in various fields, the Izvestia newspaper reports.

Bilateral forums with these countries were created in the 2000s and 2010s at the initiative of Russian President Vladimir Putin and the leaders of Italy, France, Germany and Austria. According to Ernesto Ferlengi, co-president of the Dialogue of Civil Societies of Italy and Russia Forum, the idea of the Forum of forums is to combine the efforts and achievements of participants in the dialogue of civil societies, since bilateral forums overlap in many respects.

Earlier, the Secretary General of the Trianon Dialogue Alexander Orlov spoke about the possible effect of the association of forums. In his opinion, countries have many common themes, one of them is sustainable development.

The authors of the idea of creating the Forum of forums emphasize that it is not about the merger of events, each of which has its own specifics and has proved its effectiveness. According to representatives of the organizing committee of the Russian-Italian forum, about thirty ideas for cooperation between the two countries in education, culture and other fields have been worked out.

For example, internships of Italian students in Russia and a meeting of Russian writers whose works are translated into Italian with Italian readers are being discussed. In Rome, there is a great interest in studying the Russian language, which is among the three most popular foreign languages in the country
