A huge image of Prince Vladimir decorated a wheat field in Italy, RIA Novosti reports. It appeared in one of the northern Italian regions, near the city of Verona, nearby the town of Castañaro. The author of the portrait of the Baptist of Russia was the artist Dario Gambarin, who considers himself one of the founders of the new direction - landscape art.

Gambarin’s canvas is the earth, and tractor is paint. He dated his installation to the visit of President of Russian Federation Vladimir Putin. Russian leader is going to visit Rome and the Vatican.

According to the artist, he chose Prince Vladimir, because he and the President of Russia are united by a name. Gambarin recalled that Vladimir Putin had already met with the Head of Roman Catholic Church several years ago and presented the icon of Vladimir Mother of God as a gift to the Pope. The portrait, he added, is a courtesy response.

Since not a single image of the Kiev Prince reached our days, the artist took the monument installed in Russian capital as a basis. .

The length of the portrait of Prince Vladimir is about two hundred meters; it covers an area of 24 000 square meters. The saint is depicted with a broad beard, wearing a helmet with a top in the form of an Orthodox cross. The portrait is signed in Russian.

This work has become one of the largest in the asset of Dario Gambarina. As Russkiy Mir reported, the artist created images of various world leaders. Among them are American presidents Obama and Trump, a fighter against apartheid in South Africa Nelson Mandela, the Head of Roman Catholic Church Francis, and the leader of the Cuban revolution Fidel Castro. In 2017, he created a portrait of Vladimir Putin.

In addition, among his works are huge posters where the artist calls for peace and justice. Gambarin also makes replicas of masterpieces of fine art. Since 1993, he has held solo exhibitions in the cities of Italy and Europe.

This time, because of the almost 40-degree heat, Gambarin had to take a break for the night - it was only possible to start work on the evening of Sunday, June 30. The portrait, which took 11 hours, was completed by noon on Monday, July 1.
