Works of 20 Russian directors to participate in Cannes

20 Russian directors participate in Cannes Film Festival, TASS reports. According to the head of Roskino Catherine Mzituridze, some will present their complete projects while others to show production at uncompleted stage. 72nd Cannes festival will open on May, 14. 

Russian pavilion will present projects  that make part of the Global Russians program. Five most promising students from the Ark film school have to shoot 1-minute shorts on the Charity Capital of the Future topic. Seven representatives of the national cinema will join the Producers Network business communication platform. It will also present recent productions of Russian film companies and best Russian films screened in ultimate 2 years. 

Russkiy Mir reported earlier that works of Russian directors were included in the Cinefondation short films program of Cannes Film Festival. Russian cinema will be presented by Complicated by Olesya Yakovleva from the St. Petersburg Institute of Cinema and Television. Her competitors will be directors from France, Israel, Great Britain, Belgium and other countries. In total, seventeen short films will fight for the award. Un Certain Regard program includes for the second time the film of young Russian director Kantemir Balagov. His new Beanpole film plot tells about post-war Leningrad. 

Give Me Liberty by Kirill Mikhanovsky participate in the frames of the Cannes independent section the Directors' Fortnight.
