The regional program of Russian-British Cross Year of Music started in Sochi, TASS reports. The concert of a local symphony orchestra was held there. Pianist from Great Britain George Harliono performed as a soloist. Tchaikovsky's Second Piano Concert was performed at the Winter Theater. The creative team performed it in the author's edition.

According to Anton Lubchenko, who heads Sochi Symphony Orchestra, other regions of the country and other groups will catch up.

The conductor is convinced that Russian and British music have similar features, and cultural contacts unite people and bring a lot of positivity.

Events dedicated to British music should take place not only in the capital of Russia, but also in other cities of the country. Organizers believe that such initiatives are a stimulus for the development of interaction at the state and personal level.

The Year of Music of the UK and Russia will be a continuation of the programs of previous years: the Year of Culture, the Year of Language and Literature, and the Year of Science and Education of the two countries. Russian part of the program will begin in mid-summer with a tour of Bolshoi Theater’s Ballet in London.
