The organizers of Total Dictation expect at least 250 thousand participants to take part in the event this year, RIA Novosti reports. According to Olga Rebkovets, who heads the project, preparation for the dictation is coming to an end. Seventy nine countries are to join the educational campaign. The sites of the Total dictation will open in more than 772 Russian and 340 foreign communities, their overall number will exceed three thousand places. Almost 380 sites will operate in Moscow, and more than 115 - in St. Petersburg.

Rebkovets added that the geography of the dictation is expanding every year, it will take place in Cuba, the UAE, Peru and Myanmar for the first time in 2019. The fourth part of the text has been written specially for overseas participants also for the first time.

At 8.00, 11.00, 14.00 and 23.00 Moscow time, on April 13, the dictation will start in different time zones. The online broadcast will be available at the same time on the project website.

At the birthplace of Total Dictation, Novosibirsk, the text will be dictated by journalist Vladimir Pozner, musician Andrei Makarevich, writer Dmitry Bykov and hockey player Yegor Milovzorov. In honor of the Year of the Theater, two dozen artists of the region will read the text. This year the list of unusual “presenters” will be joined by the Bear from Masha and the Bear cartoon.

According to the organizers, the homeland of the Total Dictation, the Novosibirsk region, expects a record number of sites and participants - more than 100 sites and more than ten thousand participants.

Russkiy Mir reported earlier that 3-5% of participants got an excellent mark every year. According to Rebkovets, this is a good result. She expressed the hope that even bad marks would not be a reason for frustration, but inspiration for development.

In addition, excellent assessments for the dictation already bring practical benefits. The Ural Federal University wants to add a score for to the results of the Unified State Exam for those applicants who got an A during the Total dictation. Other universities may follow its example.
