Participants of conference in Shanghai discussed cooperation of Russian-speaking diasporas in Asia

The Regional Conference of Russian Compatriots’ Organizations in Asia gathered participants from China, Iran, Mongolia, Nepal, Singapore, the Republic of Korea, Thailand and Japan in Shanghai. They discussed the maintenance of military graves of Russian and Soviet soldiers in due form, new approaches to working with young people, the creation of modern websites of organizations and the support of Orthodox community, Moscow House of Compatriots reports. 

Employees of Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, members of Federation Council and representatives of Russian regions took part at the conference. They told the audience about legislative innovations relating to compatriots and the projects to support families. They also said that Asian region is currently of particular importance for Russia. The importance of work of compatriots' organizations in Asian countries cannot be overestimated. 

Conference participants discussed questions about maintaining graves in Russian cemeteries in due form, organizing the Immortal Regiment action, supporting Russian language at schools and universities, resolving legal issues by compatriots, and attracting young people to compatriots' organizations. The question about maintaining contacts with compatriots living in the countries, where coordination councils are not yet open, was also raised.
