Russian natives showed their works at the first multicultural festival of fashion in Australia named FOMA (Fashions of Multicultural Australia), TASS reports.

The exhibition in Sydney has combined expositions of more than 20 different countries. It included samples of national costumes, household items and handicrafts. After the exhibition of traditional costumes, designers from different countries showed modern fashion collections.

The organizers explained that in they sought to create a platform for dialogue between the peoples of different countries who live on the territory of the Green Continent. This will allow them to understand each other better. In addition, they recognize their own role for Australia as a multicultural country. This is the first event of this kind, which was organized in close cooperation with embassies of different countries.

Head of the Russian Embassy Grigory Logvinov noted that Mission had responded with great enthusiasm to the proposal to take part in such a project. It is a pity that due to the remoteness of Australia, it was not possible to acquaint the locals with artists and designers working directly in Russia, diplomat added. However, there are talented masters in Australia. They were born and studied in Russia, and even being far from it, they did not lose touch with their native country.

Designers Ekaterina Komarova, Evgenia Lisichkina and Alfiya Galimova represented Russia. They showed their collections of clothing and exclusive accessories, some of which were prepared exclusively for the exhibition.
