38 bodies were recovered under the rubble of the residential building in Magnitogorsk, RIA Novosti informs. The tragedy happened right before the New Year, on December 31. According to preliminary data, one of the blocks of flats collapsed after a natural gas explosion. The collapsed area was a residence of 120 people.

Among the dead are 6 children. Today doctors are fighting for the life of 10-month old Vanya Fokin. He was evacuated from Magnitogorsk to the Emergency Children’s Surgery and Traumatology Research Institute in Moscow. Now his vitals are stable with a moderate improvement. Doctors note that his laboratory indicators are normalizing. Before being recovered under the rubble by lifeguards, the child survived because he was lying in his crib, wrapped in  warm clothes. He spent 35 hours under the debris out in the freezing cold. The boy is  severely hypothermic and has a closed traumatic brain injury. His parents who also survived are keeping a vigil at the doors of intensive care.

Russian President Vladimir Putin visited the place of tragedy on December, 31. It is reported that each family of the deceased will receive one million roubles from the Government. Furthermore, every family will get assistance in organizing funerals. Residents of the building who got serious or moderately serious damage to health will receive 400 thousand roubles. Citizens with minor injuries will receive 200 thousand roubles. Affected families will also obtain material assistance from 300 to 500 thousand roubles for the loss of basic necessities.
