China-Russia joint Arctic expedition has yielded good results. The research mission was held for the second time, TASS reports.

The length of the route exceeded 12.000 kilometers and it took a month and a half to overcome it. All this time, expedition members collected information on oceanic geology, chemistry, biology.

According to one of the participants Hu Limin, valuable data will become the basis for future scientific research. Scientists analyzed atmospheric phenomena, the speed and direction of tides etc.

The results of the work will help to clear up the information on the North Pole as well as markedly intensify the development of a Polar Silk Road, an alternative to the Suez Canal. Experts learned the important features of the future route. It will connect North-East Asia and Western Europe. The results of this research will be published soon in leading Russian and Chinese periodicals. The first Russia-China Arctic expedition took place two years ago. Last summer, Moscow and Beijing formally agreed on cooperation and implementation of joint projects for the development of the Northern Sea Route.
