Exhibition of the Russian Icons was opened the day before in the capital city of France, according to the website of The Eparchy of Korsun. The exposition named Easter is accommodated in the chambers of Russian Orthodox Spiritual and Cultural Center at the Quai Branly. The exhibited items were borrowed from the private collection being prepared for a half of century. Various styles, schools and epochs of Orthodox icon-painting are presented at the exhibition.

The exposition contains ten icons of the 16th century painted in Moscow, Pskov, Vologda, Central and Northern Rus. They demonstrate all wealth of icon-painting skills of Russian craftsmen of that period.

The majority of icons is related to the 17th century. Their variety enables to trace down development of Russian iconography within this period of time.

Icons of the 18th century reflect skills of the Old Believers (Dissenters from the Russian Orthodox Church) in Karelia.

The 19th century and the beginning of the 20th century are represented by icons made in well-known iconography centers of Vladimir region: Palekh and Mstera.

Culture Association at the Holy Trinity Cathedral at the Quai Branly has organized the exhibition.
