Moiseyev Ensemble opens Russian Year of Culture in Qatar

Year of Russian Culture started yesterday’s evening in Qatar, RIA Novosti informs. It was opened by a concert of Igor Moiseyev State Academic Ensemble. A legendary dancing troupe showed many performances well-known in the majority of the world countries. Specially for performance in Doha, the troupe prepared a football players’ dance in honor of the fact that Qatar will host FIFA World Cup in four years. “A Qatar player” scored at the end of the match – dance.

Russia – Qatar Cross Year will become the first one for the countries of the Persian Gulf. Note that the countries agreed to conduct the Cross Year during International Saint-Petersburg Cultural Forum.

According to Russian Minister of Culture Vladimir Medinsky, relations between the two countries keep growing stronger for the last several years. Development is noticeable in all directions – political, economic, sports and cultural.

Russian Minister is sure that the Year of Culture will facilitate deeper acquaintance of the both countries’ population with classical and modern cultures of Russia and Qatar.

His counterpart from Qatar Salah bin Ghanim Al Ali believes that the cross year is a proof of tight ties between Doha and Moscow.
