07.02.2018

Compatriots living in Sweden are getting ready for Russian Maslenitsa Festival (A symbolic farewell to winter in Russia) to be held at the end of next week in the capital of Sweden, according to the website of Russian Communities’ Alliance in Sweden.

Russian Communities’ Alliance in Sweden and the Creative Stockholm project are organizing the festival. Festival of saying farewell to winter, arranged for 11th time this year, has turned into a good tradition in Sweden.

Festival guests will be able to attend a concert of Barynya folk ensemble sent by St. Petersburg administration at the request of the Coordinating Council of Compatriots living abroad.

Over a quarter of century of its existence, the ensemble has many times introduced the Russian culture to foreigners by performing at different stages in many countries of the world.

Stockholm citizens will listen to folk songs and try to take part in winter amusements. Organizers are sure that such performances will give a chance to enter the spirit of the festival in full.

Besides, the guests will be offered informative demo materials about St. Petersburg.
