Russian compatriots conference took place in Palermo

vksrs.com11th conference of Russian compatriots in Italy took place in Palermo. Important questions of working with Italian administrative centers and other organizations were discussed. An important place was devoted to work with young generation, reports the Coordinating Portal of Russian Compatriots. The agreement on the 100 Years of Russian Revolution, Victory Day celebrations and the Immortal Regiment action was also reached.

Palermo mayor Leoluca Orlando became the honored guest of the conference. The head of the European programs of Russkiy Mir Foundation Alexey Gromyko had a speech. Russian Ambassador to Italy Sergei Razov sent his greetings to the conference participants.

In the course of the conference participants marked a very significant role of Russian community consolidation, promoting positive image of our country in Italia, and dissemination of Russian language and culture in Apennines.

Krasnoyarsk feels like Florence in some ways. It can be admired from lovely observation decks on the hills. Rasul Gamzatov, a nationally acclaimed Avar poet, was born on September 8, 1923, 100 years ago. He was the author of "Cranes", perhaps the most touching song lyrics about war and fallen soldiers. Mr. Gamzatov did not write in Russian. Thus, we know his poetry through translations of other Russian poets. Nevertheless, one of his friends said, "Translators are unable to think up anything here".
