Russian Screenwriter Volodarsky Turns 70

Russia’s prominent playwright, novelist and screenwriter Eduard Volodarsky marks his 70th jubilee, Voice of Russia reports. Volodarsky debuted as a screenwriter with Sixth Summer in 1967, but earned fame after co-wrote the script for Nikita Mikhalkov`s eastern At Home Among Strangers. Volodarsky wrote more than 50 scripts and eleven theatrical plays.

His debut play Our Debts was staged by renowned Russian director Oleg Yefremov at the Moscow Art Theater, and later was performed in hundreds of other theatres all over the country.

President of Russia Dmitry Medvedev congratulated Eduard Volodarsky on the jubilee.
