Ruwiki, the Russian version of Wikipedia, begins working on Monday, January, 15, RIA Novosti reports.

All technological innovations envisioned by the creators of the Russian electronic encyclopedia will be added throughout the year. The pages will include audio and shortened versions, as well as videos and podcasts. Users' personal accounts will also be updated.

At the moment the encyclopedia is functioning in beta mode, which means that there may be glitches and errors on the site.

The Russian version of Wikipedia became available for visitors last summer. Prior to this, Roskomnadzor announced measures against the Wikimedia Foundation. Search engines must indicate to Internet visitors that the website violates Russian legislation, since it does not block illegal information, including in relation to Russia.

Earlier, the Safe Internet League noted that Wikipedia had lost its independent status and is actively involved in disseminating false information about the progress and goals of Russia’s special operation in Ukraine. It was also noted that in the English-language segment, anti-Russian fakes are often introduced by bots.
