Ded Moroz (Grandfather Frost) goes on a New Year's journey, TASS reports. He starts his trip from Veliky Ustyug on Saturday, December 9. The organizer of the large-scale project is the government of the Vologda Region with the assistance of the Russian Foreign Ministry and Rossotrudnichestvo.

The Acting Governor of the region, Georgy Filimonov, deemed Santa Claus' journey a gift from the residents of Vologda Oblast to their compatriots residing abroad. He emphasized that, especially on the verge of New Year celebrations, these individuals need the support of their home country.

A meeting with the winter wizard will let them plunge into a Russian traditional fairytale. Residents of Italy, France, Armenia and Belarus are waiting for a meeting with Russian Santa Claus. The festivities are planned on the sites of embassies and Russian Houses. In addition, Santa Claus will visit hospitals and rehabilitation centers.

Grandfather Frost started his New Year's journey across the country on the fairytale express on November, 11. Until the middle of next month, he will cover 32,000 kilometers, making stops in 80 cities.
