Oleg Akkuratov wins prestigious jazz competition in US

Russian musician Oleg Akkuratov has become the second at the Sarah Vaughan International Jazz Vocal Competition. The contest is one of the most prestigious in the world and Russia was represented there for the first time. The event was held in the United States, TASS reports.

Three musicians reached the final- from Russia, the USA and Australia. The judges examined vocal skill, musicality, artistry, individuality, artistic interpretation, level of performance.

Oleg Akkuratov is a unique musician who performs jazz and also classical music.

The competition was held in Newark, New Jersey. The hall for the contest accommodates 3000 people.

The blind pianist, the winner of international competitions, performed at the closing of the Paralympic Games in Sochi in 2014 and at the World Festival of Youth and Students in Sochi in 2017. He also participated in the first International Jazz Festival held in Riga.

According to Russkiy Mir, the fate of the blind musician became the basis for the 2009 Russian film called Colorful Twiligh. Lyudmila Gurchenko directed and performed the main role in the picture which became the last one for the actress.
