Flickr/WoobleRussian hockey player Evgeni Malkin has become a holder of the Stanley Cup for the third time. His team of Pittsburg Penguins won the Cup the day before, according to TASS.

Russian forward has an equal number of playoff victories with titled Igor Larionov and Sergei Fedorov, who played for Detroit Red Wings at the end of 1990ies – the beginning of 2000th as well as Sergei Brylin with the New Jersey Devils.

It is noteworthy that the team of Evgeni Malkin won the Stanley Cup for the second time in a row, it is an accomplishment made for the first time over the last twenty years. The Penguins nearly lost to Washington Capitals in quarterfinals and to Ottawa in half finals (both matches ended up with score of 4:3). The hockey players did not temp their fate any more in finals. Neither team could score a goal during the whole session, however, Pittsburg Penguins managed to do that two minutes before the end of the third period. Their rivals removed the goalkeeper hoping for overtime, but missed the second goal immediately afterwards.

Evgeni Malkin got 28 (10+8) scores becoming the most valuable player of the playoffs in goal + pass system. After the game was over, he claimed that he would like to win the Stanley Cup with Pittsburg Penguins next season again.
