RT gets two gold medals at New York Festivals

26.04.2017

RT TV channel won two first awards of the international TV contest New York Festivals, RIA Novosti informs. The jury gave the highest awards to the Russian mass media source for the series of broadcasts from Libya and its documentary H2nOl. The TV channel collection contains four silver and three bronze medals already.

It is worth reminding that Russian TV channel holds more nominations than such major foreign mass media sources as BBC and CNN.

William Whiman’s work right from the front line of the Libyan city of Sirte received the golden medal in the category of Special Broadcast. William reported about fighting of the Libyan armed forces against the Islamic State terrorists. A documentary about shortage of drinking water in India left behind its rivals in the category of Environment and Ecology.

As per the TV channel editor-in-chief Margarita Simonyan, winning the most prestigious festivals has become a good tradition for RT. She has also mentioned that this time nine awards of New York Festivals set a record.

Two RT promotional films about US Presidential elections: Fun for America – what to expect of Hillary Clinton and Time of Intolerance - what to expect of Donald Trump took the second place in the News Promo category. The silver medals were gained by TV shows RT UK Going Underground and RT America The Big Picture as well as the documentary movie Shaggy, magician and Che Guevara.

Special broadcast of RT America about Guantanamo Prison, Larry King show on RT America and documentary Kabulsk Mirrors won bronze medals.
