26.03.2017

First Chekhov Festival kicks off as a part of Russian-American Month in New York. The festival opened with Tree Sisters play at the Russian Arts Theater and Studio. The performance called total success, all tickets were sold out.

Seasoned Russian director Aleksey Burago stated that Three Sisters production will be shown sixteen times making it accessible for every person interested in Classical Russian Plays. Apart of that, theater lovers will get a chance to see one-act drama Swan Song based on the namesake story by Chekhov, starring Russia's iconic actor Ernst Zorin of the Vakhtangov Theater.

Aleksey Burago is sure that Chekhov can never go out of fashion, "his plays are actual nowadays simply because he's a genius". The director has also marked that classical theater tradition also exists in US, and local theater lovers are very picky despite the fact that American pop-culture is only based on (the concept of) entertainment.

The festival will close on April, 15.
