International Chekhov Festival kicks off in Moscow

The "Chekhov Festival on the streets of Moscow" program started on Saturday, May 20, TASS reports. It will cover more than 15 sites located in various districts of the capital.

The first to perform was the Herman Cornejo Dance Company. The concert of Argentinean performers was held on Revolution Square. Muscovites and guests of the metropolis saw the Milonga show, the audience was also invited to join the tango performers.

Among the participants is the Japanese Nobushi drummers group. They will perform three times: June 4, 5 and 6. The group is known throughout the world.

The Luxuria performance is scheduled for August. It will show the flamenco ballet of Barcelona.

As noted by the Special Convoy of the Russian President for Culture Mikhail Shvydkoy, who heads the Festival, the participation of foreign guests indicates that Russia is not closed from anyone. We are open for cooperation with the whole world, he assured.

It will be possible to get acquainted with the art of the participants of the festival program  all summer long. Within its framework, 15 performances from 13 countries are planned - from Argentina, Armenia, Belarus, Brazil, Vietnam, India, Kazakhstan, China, Cuba, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Chile and South Africa.

The festival will run until October, 8.
