The Russian Crew members that were captured several days ago by Nigerian pirates, are alive and well, reports RIA Novosti. The captain was allowed to call the ship management company. According to the Russian crew family members, the hostages are kept in normal conditions.

Let us remind you that Russian Citizens were taken prisoners by the pirates. BBC Caribbean ship was attacked in the Norwegian territorial waters in the Gulf of Guinea. Local media reports that the tweendecker vessel was approached by a motor boat with armed people near the oil terminal located by the Niger River. The pirates opened fire and the ship security fired back at them. Seven Russians and a Ukrainian citizen were kidnapped from the ship.

The hostage vessel is owned by the German company. It headed for Ghana from Cameroon .

Russian and Ukraine Foreign Policy Representative Office diplomats have already confirmed the hostage-taking of their citizens in Nigerian Waters. They've advised that appropriate measures to release the sailors will be taken as soon as possible.

Let us remind that such incidents in the waters of the Gulf of Guinea happened before in the past. Greek ship Saroniс Breeze was captured in the territorial waters of Benin last autumn. Eighteen Russians were on board of the ship under the Panama flag. The wreckers took three Russian sailors and fled away. The hostages were released one month after.
