Electronic Version of Koran as a Language Learning Instrument

It is difficult to overstate the significance of the electronic version of the Koran in Russian, which was financed through a grant of the Russkiy Mir Foundation. After all, Russia has a multimillion large population of Muslims, many of whom do not have the ability to read the Koran in the original Arabic.

This poet translation of the Koran makes it accessible to all Muslims who speak Russian. This project will help those seeking to improve their Russian skills, as Russian is the language of international communication among Muslims in Russia and other former Soviet states.

This bilingual program (both the Russian and Arab texts are provided) could also help readers use the electronic version as a language learning instrument. Furthermore, the Russian and Arab texts are also provided in an MP3 audio format and can be listened to on computers, music players and compatible mobile phones.

“Without any exaggeration, I would note that the appearance of the computer program “The Holy Koran and Hadith of the Prophet” is a major event for all Muslims, who, in addition to their spiritual connection, are brought closer together by the Russian language,” said Chief Mufti Sheikh Ravil Gainutdin in a letter to Russkiy Mir Foundation Executive Director Vyacheslav Nikonov.

At the IV Russkiy Mir Assembly, Vyacheslav Nikonov said that this project was one of the most successful of the Foundation in 2010.
