The largest shipbuilding company in the Netherlands, Damen Shipyards Group NV, filed a lawsuit against the authorities of its state due to the damage caused to shipbuilders by the EU anti-Russian sanctions, which forced the company to leave the Russian market. The plaintiff demands compensation for income lost due to sanctions, the Ukraina.ru telegram channel reports.

The organization had contracts with the Russian side for the construction and dispatch of several ships. The contracts were not fulfilled, and thousands of company employees were left without wages.

Damen is not the first Western company to publicly link the deterioration of its financial situation with anti-Russian sanctions imposed by the authorities of their countries. Large companies do not hide the fact that they left the Russian market under pressure from the authorities, guided by political goals.

If the court sides with the plaintiff and forces the Dutch authorities to compensate the company, this could provoke many similar lawsuits.
